Fine Arts: Laurel creates most of her landscape paintings en plein air. En plein air is a French expression which means "in the open air," and is particularly used to describe the act of painting in the outside environment. Many artists feel this painting technique is the only way to truly capture the beauty and colors of landscapes. French Impressionist painters such as Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir advocated en plein air painting, and much of their work was done or started outdoors. Laurel has studied under famous master pastelist and landscape painter Albert Handell. For the creation of larger works in her studio, she uses pastel studies and photographs. Laurel also does private commissions from photographs and works closely with clients to ensure they are completely satisfied with their fine art investment. Moje Wetzork Studios also offers fine art prints and greeting cards.
Oil and Acrylics: Laurel loves working with the bright colors of acrylics and the textural and luminous qualities of oil paints.
